Pencil wrap, zip case or desk cup: which suits your kit?

A pencil wrap, a zip case and a desk cup solve different storage problems. Start with the tools you use and where you use them. If your current container keeps everything together and is easy to reach, you may already have what you need.

Choose by your everyday routine

A desk cup: a simple option when your pens stay at one workspace and you want to pick one up without opening anything. Check that the cup stays upright with your longest tools inside.
A zip case: consider this when your kit includes loose erasers, a sharpener or other small pieces. Check the case's internal dimensions and compartments; designs vary.
A pencil wrap: consider a roll-up organizer when you want individual places for writing tools and space to lay them out. Allow for the time and desk space needed to unroll, choose a tool and tie it closed again.

Try a five-minute kit check

Make your real list. Put out the pens and pencils you use in a normal week. Separate spares and dried-out pens before counting.
Separate awkward shapes. A ruler, eraser, sharpener or thick marker may need different storage from a standard pencil. Do not assume that a slot count tells you whether every tool fits.
Measure your workspace. Mark the organizer's open footprint on paper. Place it beside your notebook, keyboard or sketchbook and check whether you can still work comfortably.
Check your bag. Compare the listed closed dimensions with the pocket you intend to use. A filled organizer may take up different space from an empty one.
Choose the smallest useful change. If you only need to gather loose desk pens, try a cup you already own first. If you carry a kit, check whether your current case can be reorganized before replacing it.

How the Kiko Leather Pencil Wrap measures up

The Pencil Wrap in our collection has ten pen-and-pencil slots and ties closed with a leather cord. The maker lists an open size of 14½ × 8¾ inches and a rolled size of 8¾ × 2 inches. Its material is full-grain cowhide with an unlined finish.

To check the open footprint, join sheets of scrap paper and mark a 14½ × 8¾-inch rectangle with a ruler. This checks the space it occupies, not the slot layout or the fit of your pens. The rolled measurement is a guide; we have not tested the dimensions of a filled wrap.

Will a particular pen or marker fit?

We do not have verified individual slot widths or a tested list of compatible pens. Ten slots does not mean ten tools of any size will fit. If you have thick markers, unusually long pencils or a specific pen collection, send us the model and measurements before ordering. We will distinguish confirmed information from anything we still need to check.
